Greg J. Nelson, DVM, DABVP (Canine and Feline Practice)
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996,
Dr. Nelson returned to his home state of New York and began working on Long Island in a busy 24 hour small animal hospital. His job initially consisted of day shifts in wellness and preventative medicine followed by night shifts in emergency and critical care medicine. With time, he became a partner in the practice overseeing the surgical and diagnostic imaging departments.
Though satisfied with his career path, he wanted to broaden his knowledge. So, through intensive study under the guidance of his mentor, he achieved the honor as a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 2010.
Since veterinary school, he has a passion for ultrasound that remains to this day. Much of his continuing education included one on one mentorship with pioneers in the field such as Dr. Rendano.
Dr. Nelson has recently changed paths to go out on his own providing mobile ultrasound service to practices on Long Island. He is also very proud to be an ultrasound consultant for eVet Diagnostics.
During his time off, he is an avid deep sea fisherman and boater, and possesses a Coast Guard Credential (License) as a Charter Captain. He also enjoys piloting single engine aircraft. And, has a plethora of frogs which include a small breeding colony of Central & South American Dart frogs.
He lives on Long Island with his wife and young adult son who prefer it when he keeps both feet on the ground.
